The situation
A 5,000-square-foot single-story office in Mountain View was having trouble with video conferencing. Calls dropped audio and video, and the problem got worse when people moved between rooms — devices held onto a distant access point instead of handing off to a closer one. The building is wood frame with open ceilings over the main floor and a drop ceiling in part of the space, and it has AT&T fiber service. Some structured cabling was already in place, but it had never been organized into a coherent network.
What we did
We started in the server room, sorting out the existing cabling and the fiber uplink, then racked a Dream Machine Pro Max as the gateway and a Switch Pro Max 24 PoE to power and feed the access points. We traced and reused the existing runs where they tested out, terminated new Cat6 jacks where needed, and labeled the lines at both ends. Four U7 PRO access points went in across the floor, placed from a walk-through of the layout so the conference rooms, the podcast room and the open desk area each had a strong nearby signal with controlled overlap. We tuned channels and power so devices hand off cleanly rather than clinging to one AP.
The result
Coverage is consistent across the whole floor, and staff can walk from a desk to a conference room mid-call without the connection breaking. Everything runs on one managed system from the rack, so the network can be monitored and adjusted without another site visit. We walked the client through the finished install in person.
