Homes in Cloverdale
Cloverdale has been a town since the railroad arrived in 1872, and its oldest houses go back further: the Gothic Revival Gould-Shaw House dates to 1862. Houses of that age are usually wood-framed and often sit on raised foundations with a crawl space underneath. After World War II, large lumber mills drew new residents, a good number of them from out of state, and the town grew well beyond its old core.
The newest large neighborhood is Clover Springs, a Del Webb community for residents 55 and over, which added 362 single-family homes between 1997 and 2001. Outside town, rural properties often have barns, shops or guest units set well apart from the main house, which changes how a network has to be laid out.
Laid out in 1859 and incorporated in 1872, the year the San Francisco and North Pacific Railroad arrived, Cloverdale became a lumber town after the war. Highway 101 ran through the middle of town until the 1994 bypass.
What that means for your Wi-Fi
Older houses often have crawl spaces we can use
Where an older house sits on a raised foundation, we usually have a path under the floor. We pull Cat6 through the crawl space and up inside the walls to each access point, so nothing shows on the original trim.
Newer homes may already have Ethernet
Houses from the late 1990s onward sometimes have network cable run to a panel in a closet or garage. We test each run, reuse what passes, and add access points where coverage falls short.
Barns and shops on rural parcels
On rural properties the shop or barn can sit hundreds of feet from the house. We link it with buried cable where a trench is practical, or a point-to-point wireless bridge where it is not.

Questions about Wi-Fi in Cloverdale
Can you run Ethernet through an older house in Cloverdale?
Usually, yes. Older wood-framed houses here often sit on raised foundations, and that crawl space gives us a path under the floor. We pull Cat6 through it and up inside the walls to each access point. If a house has no crawl space, we plan short exterior runs in conduit instead.
My Clover Springs home has network jacks. Can you use them?
Often we can. Houses from the late 1990s onward sometimes have network cable run to a panel in a closet or garage. We test each run first, reuse the ones that pass, and add access points only where coverage still falls short.
How do I get Wi-Fi out to a barn or shop?
It depends on the distance and the ground. Where a trench is practical we bury a cable from the house to the barn or shop. Where it is not, we set up a point-to-point wireless bridge. Either way the building gets its own access point.
