Homes in Danville
Danville's first sizable housing tracts went up in 1947, and Montair and Cameo Acres were among the major postwar developments. Homes of that era are typically single-story ranch houses with attics, and over the years many lots have gained detached garages, workshops or pool houses.
The population boomed in the 1970s and 1980s after Interstate 680 came through in the mid-1960s. Houses from those decades are often larger, and many are two stories. Where a home is built on a slope it often runs to two or three levels, with the garage at the street and the living areas above or below it. Older buildings survive too, including the 1874 Grange Hall and the Danville Hotel downtown.
A post office opened in 1860 and the Southern Pacific arrived in 1891. The first sizable tracts came in 1947, Interstate 680 followed in the mid-1960s, and Danville incorporated as a town in 1982.
What that means for your Wi-Fi
Big lots with pool houses and detached garages
A router in the main house will not hold a signal across a wide yard. We connect outbuildings with buried cable in conduit, or a point-to-point bridge where trenching would tear up landscaping.
Multi-level hillside homes need wiring between floors
When the garage, living level and bedrooms sit on different floors, one router cannot serve them all. We find a vertical path for Cat6 and put an access point on each level.
Mesh kits struggle in long ranch houses
Wireless mesh units lose speed with every hop down a long hallway. We replace them with access points wired through the attic, so the far bedroom gets the same connection as the kitchen.

Questions about Wi-Fi in Danville
How do I get internet to a pool house or detached garage in Danville?
Run a cable to it, or bridge it. A router in the main house will not hold a signal across a wide yard. We connect outbuildings with buried cable in conduit, or with a point-to-point wireless bridge where trenching would damage landscaping, then put an access point inside.
Why doesn't my mesh kit work well in a long ranch house?
Because each wireless hop down a long hallway costs speed, so the last unit has little left to give. We replace the mesh kit with access points wired through the attic, where the house has one, so every access point has its own full connection.
Can you wire a Danville home built on two or three levels?
Yes. When the garage, living level and bedrooms sit on different floors, one router cannot reach them all. We look for a vertical path, such as stacked closets, to carry Cat6 between floors, and mount an access point on each level.
