Homes in Dublin
Dublin is two towns in one. The original tracts are in West Dublin, and they started in 1960 when the developer Volk-McLain built San Ramon Village on land that had been part of the Dougherty Ranch. Houses of that era are usually single-story or split-level, with attached garages, low-pitched roofs and often an attic you can crawl through.
The rest of the city is far newer, and it grew by more than half between 2010 and 2020. Recent subdivisions include Wallis Ranch, which opened in 2016 with about 816 units, and Tassajara Hills, and transit-oriented housing has gone up near the two BART stations. Newer homes like these often come with a structured wiring panel in a closet or the garage.
Dublin was rural until the first housing tracts went up in 1960. It incorporated in 1982, and continued building helped the population climb from about 46,000 in 2010 to more than 72,000 in 2020.
What that means for your Wi-Fi
Wiring panels in newer homes often sit unused
Many newer houses have Ethernet to several rooms, all ending in a panel nobody connected. We test each run, add a switch, and put access points on the cable that is already in your walls.
Townhomes often have the modem on the ground floor
The internet usually enters at ground level, sometimes two floors below the bedrooms. We use the existing wiring where it tests good, or add runs, so each floor has its own wired access point.
Older 1960s tract homes often have open attics
In 1960s tracts an accessible attic usually makes cabling simple. We run Cat6 overhead to ceiling access points at each end of the house and replace mesh kits that depend on wireless hops.

- Camp Parks: The Navy established the camp in 1942 for its construction battalions, and it now serves as an Army Reserve training area.
Questions about Wi-Fi in Dublin
Can you use the wiring panel already in my Dublin home?
Often, yes. Newer homes here often come with a structured wiring panel in a closet or the garage, with Ethernet that nobody connected. We test each run, add a switch, and put access points on the cable that is already in your walls.
Is an older West Dublin tract house easy to cable?
Usually it is. Houses of that era are mostly single-story or split-level and often have an attic you can crawl through. We run Cat6 overhead to ceiling access points at each end of the house, which also lets us retire a mesh kit.
Why is the top floor of my townhome so slow?
The internet usually enters at ground level, sometimes two floors below the bedrooms, and one router cannot push through that many floors. We use the existing wiring where it tests good, or add runs, so each floor has its own wired access point.
