Homes in Millbrae
Millbrae's oldest housing is in the Millbrae Villa subdivision, created in 1889 north of the Mills estate, and in Millbrae Highlands, a 280-acre subdivision established in 1927. The city incorporated in 1948, in time for the postwar boom, and opened its first new school in more than 25 years for the children of that era. Houses from those years are often compact.
The Mills mansion burned in 1954, and the estate land was then subdivided into residential areas, Mills High School and Peninsula Hospital. Near the BART and Caltrain station, the Belamor condominiums from 2010 and the Gateway at Millbrae apartments from 2023 have added multi-story housing.
Named for Darius Ogden Mills, who bought land here in the 1860s, Millbrae incorporated in 1948 during the postwar building boom. The Mills mansion burned in 1954 and its grounds became homes, a high school and a hospital.
What that means for your Wi-Fi
Small postwar houses, router stuck at one end
Postwar houses here are often compact, but the service usually enters at a front corner. A single ceiling access point in the middle of the house, wired through the attic, often fixes the back bedrooms.
View homes on the hill span several levels
Houses that follow a slope can leave a lower level under a floor and behind a retaining wall. We wire an access point on every level so each has its own signal.
Condos near the station sit in crowded air
In multi-story buildings by the station, many networks overlap. We install wired access points inside your unit and tune channels and power so yours stays usable at busy hours.

Questions about Wi-Fi in Millbrae
Why are the back bedrooms weak in my Millbrae postwar house?
Postwar houses here are often compact, but the service usually enters at a front corner, so the router sits at one end. A single ceiling access point in the middle of the house, wired through the attic where there is one, often fixes it.
How do you cover a Millbrae house built on a slope?
One access point per level. Houses that follow a slope can leave a lower level under a floor and behind a retaining wall, where signal from above barely reaches. We wire each level so it has its own signal.
Why is Wi-Fi unreliable in my condo near Millbrae Station?
In multi-story buildings by the station, many networks overlap and crowd the same channels. We install wired access points inside your unit and tune channels and power so your network stays usable at busy hours.
