Homes in Kenwood
Kenwood is an unincorporated village of about 850 people in the Sonoma Valley. The townsite was platted in 1887, and its stone depot and 1888 community church still stand. Older houses in the village are typically wood-framed. Around it are vineyards and wineries, and rural properties here often have long driveways and outbuildings set apart from the house.
Fire has reshaped the housing here. The 2017 Nuns fire burned homes in Kenwood, including houses on Treehaven Lane, so some of the housing here is much newer than the rest. Rebuilt homes tend to have modern wiring, while older ones were usually not built with network cable in mind.
The Sonoma Land and Improvement Company platted the town in 1887 as the Santa Rosa and Carquinez Railroad arrived. First called Los Guilicos, it took the name Kenwood around 1895, and trains ran until 1934.
What that means for your Wi-Fi
Outbuildings spread over vineyard land
A barn, guest house or winery building may be several hundred feet from the router. We trench cable where the ground allows, and use a point-to-point bridge across vines or driveways where it does not.
Rebuilt homes with wiring nobody is using
A house rebuilt after the fire may have Ethernet in many rooms and a single router doing all the work. We test those runs and add ceiling access points so coverage matches the wiring.
Cameras and Wi-Fi at the gate and yard
Rural owners often want to see the driveway and cover the patio. We install security cameras and outdoor access points powered over the cable, so each needs only one line back to a small rack.

Questions about Wi-Fi in Kenwood
How do I connect a barn or guest house on a Kenwood property?
It depends on the ground between the buildings. An outbuilding may be several hundred feet from the router. We trench cable where the ground allows, and use a point-to-point bridge across vines or driveways where it does not.
My rebuilt Kenwood home has Ethernet jacks. Do I need more?
Often you just need to use them. A house rebuilt after the fire may have Ethernet in many rooms and a single router doing all the work. We test those runs and add ceiling access points so coverage matches the wiring.
Can you put a camera at the end of a long driveway?
Usually, yes. We install security cameras and outdoor access points powered over the network cable, so each one needs only a single line back to a small rack. That lets you see the driveway and cover the patio from the same system.
