Homes in San Lorenzo
San Lorenzo is best known for San Lorenzo Village, a planned tract that the David D. Bohannon Company began in 1944 under a Navy contract to house war workers. It started with about 3,000 houses and eventually reached roughly 4,500. They are two and three-bedroom homes, generally single-story, and Bohannon built them with a pre-cutting method that sped up construction.
Small houses of this age have often been altered since: a garage turned into a bedroom, a family room pushed out the back, a patio cover or a shed in the yard. The plan set aside parcels for schools, churches, parks and shops, and a homes association established in the 1940s manages architectural standards.
San Lorenzo Village was begun in 1944 as housing for workers in the East Bay's war industries. It was among the nation's first planned communities, and its pre-cut building method influenced later tract developments.
What that means for your Wi-Fi
Small houses that have grown additions
A room added at the back or a converted garage often sits beyond the reach of the original router. We run cable to an access point in the added space so it is covered like the main house.
Internet enters at the wrong end
In compact plans like these the line often comes in at a front corner bedroom. We move the network's center with one cable run and mount a ceiling access point in the middle of the house.
Backyard sheds, patios and cameras
Outdoor coverage is usually simple to add on a small lot. We mount an outdoor access point under the eave for the patio and shed, and wire security cameras on the same cable runs.
