Homes in Belvedere
Belvedere is two islands and a lagoon, and the houses split the same way. On Belvedere Island and Corinthian Island, Shingle Style, Arts and Crafts and Mediterranean houses climb steep lots, the oldest of them from the 1890s. Many step down the slope on several levels, often with the entry at the top and the living rooms below.
Around Belvedere Lagoon the picture changes. The first lagoon homes went on sale in the late 1940s on dredged and filled land, and mid-century modern houses from the 1950s and 1960s line the water. They tend to be low and wide, and many have private docks, decks and boat lifts. Island houses tend to be tall with many rooms. Lagoon houses are usually open, but long.
Belvedere incorporated in 1896, with the Belvedere Land Company selling lots and architect Albert Farr designing its cottages. Harry B. Allen bought the company in 1935 and finished filling the lagoon, where homes first sold in the late 1940s.
What that means for your Wi-Fi
Stacked hillside floors each need an access point
A router at street level rarely reaches living rooms two floors down the slope. We wire an access point on each level, running Cat6 through closets and whatever crawl space the hillside leaves under the house.
Lagoon homes have docks worth covering
Decks, docks and boat lifts sit well beyond the glass wall at the back of the house. We mount outdoor access points under the eaves so your signal carries all the way to the water's edge.
Shingle houses from the 1890s hide few cable paths
Homes this old were never built with wiring chases. We map a route before drilling anything, use in-wall access points where a ceiling run is not possible, and keep the cable out of sight.

Questions about Wi-Fi in Belvedere
Why does Wi-Fi drop on the lower floors of my Belvedere Island house?
Usually because the router sits near the entry at the top and the living rooms are floors below it. Signal weakens through each floor of a house that steps down the slope. We wire an access point on every level, running Cat6 through closets and any crawl space the hillside leaves.
Can you get Wi-Fi out to a dock on Belvedere Lagoon?
Yes. Docks, decks and boat lifts sit well past the glass at the back of a lagoon house, so indoor signal fades before it gets there. We mount outdoor access points under the eaves, each wired back to the house and powered over the cable.
How do you run cable in a shingle house from the 1890s?
Carefully, and with a plan first. Houses that old were not built with wiring chases, so we map the route before drilling anything. Where a ceiling run is not possible we use in-wall access points instead, and we keep the cable out of sight.
